San Miguel de Allende
Sample Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival & Welcome
After a morning flight to Guanajuato International Airport, you’ll stop for lunch in the city before embarking on a backstage tour of one of Mexico’s most historic cities.
Alongside only a handful of Mexican cities, Guanajuato has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, thanks to its colonial and baroque architecture; thin, winding streets that run across town; the mines on which the city was founded; and the key role it played in the Mexican Revolution.
Following your tour, jump on a luxury coach transfer to San Miguel. Check-in to the Live Aqua hotel and prepare for dinner at one of the top restaurants in San Miguel, Zibu Allende. Known for its fusion cuisine, that Chef Palazuelos calls ‘Mex-Thai’, enjoy Zibu’s culinary delights while dining by the wood-fires, under the starlight.
Grab a final night cap at the Casa Dragones Cigar Bar. Casa Dragones is a luxury brand of tequila co-founded by Bertha González Nieves (the ‘First Lady of Tequila’), and Robert Pittman, the founder of MTV. Inspired by San Miguel’s legendary Dragones, the elite calvary that led the movement toward Mexican independence.
Day 2
Authentic San Miguel
Following breakfast at the hotel, it’s time to get a taste of the old and new of San Miguel de Allende.
Your first stop is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Sanctuary of Atotonilco. Don’t be fooled by its plain exterior, as inside you’ll find a feast for the senses and spirit that showcases its moniker as the ‘Sistine Chapel of Mexico’.
Onwards to Tres Raíces, a top winery n San Miguel’s burgeoning wine scene. Enjoy a tour and tasting followed by lunch filled with beautiful views of both the vineyard and the surrounding countryside.
After lunch, return to the city for a look behind-the-scenes at the history and majesty that has San Miguel consistently ranked among the ‘Best Cities in the World’. Walk the charming cobblestone streets and uncover the secrets and stories of San Miguel’s glorious past, present and future.
Unwind back at the hotel, before a night on the town at a selection of the premier restaurants in San Miguel for a small group Dine Around experience.
Meet back up for some of San Miguel’s famous nightlife at DUKE nightclub – the party gets rolling after midnight!
Day 3
The Past
The Cultural Center of Art and Design, La Aurora, is one of the can’t-miss experiences in San Miguel and this morning an expert host artist will lead your exploration of its finest galleries. A textile mill from 1902 to 1991, Fábrica La Aurora has since become an art-lover's paradise housing canvases, sculptures and handmade products of local and renowned artists. After you've spent plenty of time eyeing paintings and sculptures, switch your focus from palette to palate for a special lunch experience at La Aurora.
After lunch, it’s your time to discover the best that San Miguel has to offer. Visit the historic sites, indulge your shopping itch, relax in the luxurious hotel spa - the afternoon is yours to explore what inspires you!
Your final evening in San Miguel will be one you won’t soon forget. All of Mexico’s authentic tastes, sights, sounds, and more will come together for this one-of-a-kind gala dinner event. Expect surprises, the unusual and the unexpected!
