SEVILLE: GATEWAY TO THE NEW WORLD
The year was 1492 - the New World is first discovered, and the Moors are defeated by the Catholic Kings in Spain, ushering in the Golden Age of Seville. For the next several hundred years, New World products would travel across the Atlantic Ocean and up the Guadalquivir river to Seville, where they would be received and distributed all over Europe. This wealth is still to be seen in every church, palace and historic building of the city, dating back to this era.
Discover the old town of Santa Cruz and its Judaic roots at the Interpretation Centre of the Jewish influence in Seville.
Expand your mind with the diverse history of Flamenco! The legendary barrio of Triana in Seville, the cradle of flamenco, has been home to, and inspiration for, many famous artists, such as Antonio Mairena or Manuela Carrasco. Enjoy the art form in its most authentic form – a live performance.
